2017 BIMI Lecture Series – Big Fish? Little Fish! How will the ocean’s most productive vertebrates cope with marine climate change?

Hannes BaumannHannes Baumann, Professor, UConn

Forage fish (or ‘the little guys’) are extremely important for Long Island Sound and marine food webs worldwide. They are also a particularly important group to examine, when we want to better understand the potential effects of climate change on ecosystems.  Come and learn more about the importance of these fish and about climate change as it relates to warming, acidification, and reduced oxygen in the marine environment.  Dr. Baumann will showcase some of his experiments at the University of Connecticut focused on the impacts on two important forage fish:  Atlantic Silversides and Sand Lance.
